The modernisation and re-design of the kitchen allowed us to extend a whole new room outward and over a new and wider suspended deck protruding into the southwest facing 100m long garden. We enlarged the deck and transform it into a new dining room directly linked with the kitchen. To accomplish this we needed maximum transparency and possibility of interaction with the outside spaces, and we achieved it by using 3.2m high folding-sliding doors. Positioning the main roof support post outside um the decked area, it became possible for the foldingsliding doors to peel away from the corner of the new room. On a sunny day the windows can be fully opened and the internal space becomes one with the outside ship-lapped decks that converge into a metal staircase discreetly leading down to the garden.
